Who is your autopilot?
"Good morning! This is Kuan Yin.
a navigational device that automatically keeps ships or planes or spacecraft on a steady course.
It is my understanding that an airplane in flight is actually always going off course. The airplane has no idea of route, destination, elevation or weather, it just knows how to run its engine. "Getting there" requires a trained human, or an autopilot to stay on course and arrive safely.
I'm sure you can see what analogy is coming. I like analogies, they are effective teaching tools that access more than one area in the brain.
So, your mortal dream self is the airplane here. Unlike the physical jet, or ship, or spacecraft, the dream self thinks it knows what to do, where to go and how to do everything. Imagine the plane saying,
"But I want to go over there to that island, or maybe to that big thunderhead up there, or turn left into that cliff side. I'm hungry. I'm tired. I'm bored. I don't feel like flying today."
It would be a constant battle between the pilot and the plane, with the likelihood of any positive outcome pretty remote.
Your over-soul immortal self, on the other hand, is an expression of the Source, the Tao, and fully connected with infinite wisdom and power.
The hardest thing for the mortal ego to do is to let go of the reins and be quiet. A popular spiritual teacher and writer of the day has said that the egoic mind is actually not a part of you at all, but a toxic parasite that has all but taken over and destroyed the planet. This is very close to the truth. Mortal thoughts are like a mob, a crowd of dark beings jostling to get in and take your life hostage. For a majority of humans this has taken place, the non-stop fire hose of judgmental, angry, worried, hostile thoughts runs the show, and humans feel powerless to change it.
Change of course, comes hard sometimes. Creating space for the immortal soul to be present requires vigilance and discipline, and close attention to every thought that wants to send the plane into the ocean or into another aircraft. Can you watch every thought? Probably not, but you can create a tipping point of attention, where you can see that 99 percent of thought is really not necessary. Life will take care of itself without you constantly directing traffic. It will. Honestly. It will. More elegantly than with all that mortal mind assistance.
There was a wonderful song written once called,
"Jesus take the wheel."
Yes! It is that surrendering to that which loves you, is powerful, and knows what to do that will win the day.
It has been written that God, (whatever you conceive that to be,) knows everything, is everywhere, and is all powerful. If you are the Divine in expression, then how can you want for anything? How can you ever be led astray except by your own monkey mind?
As always I say, meditation and spiritual practice. It's a lot more productive to chant a high frequency mantra at every moment, than the alien takeover mind grind that goes nowhere and does nothing kind or good. Expand upon every possible moment of mindful, present moment awareness, and listen. Let. Allow.
Who is your autopilot? It is your own Divine self. Can you accept that you are a Divine being having a vivid dream? When the airplane and the autopilot are aligned as one and working together, the destination is arrived at sweetly and effortlessly.
Set the controls to trust and stillness, and ride the clouds with your own beautiful soul flying your plane, sailing your ship, guiding you to the stars.
That is all. I love you."
