Kuan yin Speaks. Tenacity.
"Good morning!
This is Kuan Yin.
Those of you who seek to serve others in an active and committed way will know these phrases.
"I don't feel like it."
I'm tired, and I don't feel well."
"Nobody listens anyway, why bother?"
"If the planet is doomed, why bother?"
"I'll get back to it later."
"I'm hungry. It should be ok for me to eat lunch now instead of finishing this practice."
"I need to pay attention to my children, husband, animals, employer, email, and social media first."
"It doesn't matter."
Believe it or not, your own blockages, (karma, for those who believe) do not want you to succeed or get better. The dark side will actively thwart and distract you, and likewise wants you to fail, to forget, to let things go by the wayside. You might feel that you are actively resisted, or ignored, criticized, dismissed. Forge ahead anyway.
Through your own higher nature, intention, and tenacity, you can supersede these pitfalls.

Sometimes practice and service come easily, flowing like water. Other times it feels like shoveling coal, the starting of it anyway.

This from the author,
"Back when I was a singer, my husband and I sang with a semi-professional Chorale group. Rehearsal was generally on a Tuesday evening, and getting up after a day's work to go to choir practice seemed like an insurmountable chore sometimes. But we were committed to the group, and to follow the injunctions to not be absent or late. So you force yourself to go, and you go.
Once there we would socialize and prepare to sing, and settle in to learn the music. It was often such beautiful music, and the blending of living beings together to make a glorious sound is such a gift! By the time we would get home we'd be so wired from all that singing and breathing and the music itself, that we would stay up much later than intended, talking, having a snack and a glass of wine, and reviewing. It was great fun, and so satisfying. And the performing, well, that's what is all for. It was almost always an event of joy, sometimes even transcendent. God singing its song through us.
Point being, once you get there, it's worth it."

One of Master Sha's head teachers spoke about this. He said, (paraphrase)
"Sometimes I REALLY don't feel like getting up and teaching, or serving. I DO get tired, and hungry, and frustrated, just like everyone else. Sometimes I'm ill, or just cranky. But once I'm up there and start, it's like everything just lights up and flows, it is my soul in charge."
..
So ignore the little sneaky voices, get up and do it. In fact, double down and do more. You will feel better for it, and those whom you serve will thank you for it as well, if not out loud, certainly at the soul level.
Sometimes you have to force yourself to get in the car and drive to choir practice. Let your soul help you do it.
That is all. I love you."
