Guan Yin Speaks. Not all who wander...
“Greetings. This is Kuan Yin. This is the most commonly accepted spelling of my name, and we will use that from now on.
The being through whom these teachings express came upon a sign nailed to a tree in a remote, long, and steep driveway a few days ago,
“Not all who wander are lost. You apparently are, and should back up and turn around right away.”
While amusing, this statement has that ring of something authentic about it. If where you are headed is not going toward the light and you know it in your heart, back up and turn around.

Do saints and Buddhas read books? Not in such words, no. But we are aware of writings and movies on the earth plane, and perceive the energy and frequency within them. There are many books and moving pictures in your world that are truly guideposts and inspirations, where do you think those come from? They are channeled from the Divine through writers and film makers to bring some light to your place. There are also an abundance of very dark and harmful writings and films and we trust that you know the difference. Stay clear of those as much as possible. Both light and dark programs and writings affect your karma in a real way.

Mr. Tolkein’s books are an interesting mix of both, there is much darkness, battles, betrayals, cruelty, loss, just like the mortal experience on Earth. But through it all is a thread of what is called
“The Hero’s journey”

His characters are flawed, complex, conflicted, and yet the much loved Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Gandalf and more seem to keep their eye on what they know must be done. They strive through fire and fear, danger, sadness, and fatigue to take the ring to where it must be destroyed. In the Lord of the Rings story anyway, friendship, loyalty and courage win the day. They know they must do it together or fail. The story is deeply symbolic of the triumph of the true self over ego.
Gollum is a story all by himself, the heart wrenching path of mental illness and the disintegration of a person.

A being’s path through the thickets of illusion and karma is seldom clear, though there are always signposts.
In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads:
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

This is often misinterpreted. “Strait” here means tight, constricted, not in one unbending line.

There is so much in the mortal experience to seduce and distract you, all the color and light, it’s very noisy, and pulls at you from every direction. Illusion it might be, but it’s compelling.
The way, the path back to the awakened, fully unified state of being, is very quiet. It is possible to be addicted to the racket, the angry shouting, even the joyful experience. Most humans are ill-equipped to embrace true quiet, it’s just too….quiet. Find a way.
Envision your life experience as a scrim, a thin, almost transparent field that your mortal life is projected on to. It really is nothing, no-thing. Can you imagine what might be on the other side if you could see through it? Planets and stars, endless infinite space? Angels? Animals? Buddhas? Use your imagination, create your pathway home, and keep your feet upon it. Maintain your vision to be pure, upward toward the light. Trust your true teacher, whoever that might be. No one is truly lost, unless that is what they choose. Being lost anywhere is simply finding another way to the destination.
