The Healing Arts and Science

The healing arts began when humans did, when the hunter-gatherers started nibbling on plants to see if they were edible or not. They found out what made them feel sick or feel better by consuming minute amounts of vegetation; roots, leaves, fungi, bark, berries and water plants. Those prehistoric beings didn't have a handy clinic or ER to run to when trampled by a musk ox or laid out with food poisoning or snake bite, and were in much closer touch with nature and with the unseen than we are as a society today. I would bet that they had a pretty good working knowledge of the power of hands-on healing, and plant medicine. Those that grasped that power and used it, became the shamans and earth

My Magic Calligraphy Book

I love to do an active technique of meditation called Tao Calligraphy tracing. I have been blessed to receive a large original Tao Calligraphy that was created for me by Master Carol Liu. Master Carol is a direct Tao Calligraphy lineage holder, and the only one so far, of Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha. Master Sha is a Tao Calligraphy grand master and teacher in the style of single stroke, or Yi Bi Zi Chinese calligraphy. Calligraphy is an ancient art, practiced in many cultures throughout the centuries. This Chinese style of Yi Bi Zi Calligraphy art is being taught now by Master Sha, as a powerful practice to bless our soul journey and bring wholeness. Tao Calligraphy carries high energy, freq

Gollum as unforgiveness

I meditate every morning, and sometimes I receive some interesting imagery. I had been thinking about forgiveness, and was provided with a little newsreel of approaching a soul that I had harmed in either this or some earlier lifetime, and asking for forgiveness. The soul was clutching a dripping, tarry, black package to its chest and shaking its head stubbornly. The soul looked a bit like Gollum from the Lord of the Rings saga, shrunken and staring. I held a mirror up to the soul and invited it to have a look. The soul had perceived itself as upright and handsome, full of vigor and life. When the soul beheld itself in the mirror its mouth fell open in horror, and it dropped the vile th

About that sparrow thing...

One of the many things I love about the spiritual discipline that I follow, led by the transformational teacher, Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha, is that it's so entirely tolerant of all teachings and beings. Master Sha teaches that the high beings of light, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Guan Yin Compassion Buddha, all the saints, angels and more, all not only know about each other, but support and join with each other to aid us here on mother Earth, and in all universes. Why not? The notion of toxic exclusivity, "My God is the sole God, everything else is false, and I can attack you if you do not agree", is fast disappearing in the rear view mirror. One hopes, anyway. In that spirit, that great wisdo

Why it's time to truly mainstream alternative healthcare

My early story is that I was raised in Christian Science. Actually my parents were opera singers and theater heads who earned money by singing solo in Christian Science churches, who actually pay for that to happen. I went to Sunday school there most of my young life, and the teachings and precepts of Mary Baker Eddy, founder of Christian Science went into my ear early on. Mary Baker Eddy was a no-nonsense New Englander of Scottish descent, and her spartan Massachusetts upbringing is reflected in the teaching. Mrs. Eddy had a difficult childhood, with great conflicts with her father, and was physically frail to the point of being bedridden for periods of time. She was part of a metaphysical

Story of the 6 loaves

I belong to a spiritual community headed by a wonderful teacher, Master Zhi Gang Sha. Within that family are many gifted and beautiful teachers, one of whom is Master Cecilia Liu, Master teacher of Tao Calligraphy and much more. She is a terrific story teller, and relates that Chinese people love to tell stories and have many. I hope she will forgive me if I paraphrase (and embellish) this tale that I heard her tell, of the 6 loaves. There was, back in the day, a devoted older Chinese couple who lived together mostly in harmony for many years. One day, the wife was called away to visit her daughter in a far province, and would be gone for several days. To assist her husband in her absen
